Highlights of the Crick Boat Show
Here at DBS Leoch we don’t like to do anything by half and two stands are most definitely better than one.
The Thursday before the late May Bank Holiday saw the team pack up the hired van and head the short distance into Northamptonshire for the Crick Boat Show, the largest inland waterways event in the UK.
The larger of our two stands saw the huge range of canal boat batteries on display, plus inverters and chargers. Dispensing a massive depth of knowledge on all things battery, our Sales team were busy answering queries and taking orders from our stand backing onto the quayside, back in the days when we actually enjoyed some sunshine and not just endless rain. We were inundated with questions regarding Pure Lead Carbon batteries, which truly is the most advanced lead acid battery in the world with unique technology. Providing up to 2,500 cycles (16x the cycles of flooded batteries) and charging to 90% in just an hour offers amazing advantages over conventional lead acid and at a fraction of the price of higher-end technologies which perform similarly.
For the AGM aficionados, the fast-charging Superior Lead Carbon was another talking point, with the carbon formula performing brilliantly at partial state of charge to ensure longevity of battery life.
Just across the way was the second DBSL stand with a focus on Electric Boat propulsion batteries. Plug-in and off-grid power technologies were another subject for discussion for our team, with the power source of the future really starting to take off. From SLCA, to lead carbons, to RELiON lithiums and new Insights, the depth of range and capabilities was again key.
Catching up with existing trade customers is always an important part of the show, plus fellow exhibitors. And as preferred battery supplier to members of the Electric Boat Association, we checked in with those guys who were conveniently alongside the Mothership Marine narrowboat ‘Shine’, which is powered by Leoch 24 2v Lead Carbon batteries via 10 solar panels. The panels supply up to 2 Kw of power per hour which is stored in the 36 Kw battery bank – the boat had travelled from Oundle to Crick in 5 days, purely via the power supplied by the solar panels and stored in the batteries – testament to their efficiency.
